About
Hannah Harley Bouleau is an artist, educator, and curator. Harley Bouelau received a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership and Innovation from Saint Francis University, a Master’s of Fine Arts in Photography and Related Media from Parsons, a graduate certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies from The New School, an executive certificate in Arts and Culture Strategy from University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Photography from Point Park University.
Her artwork explores themes driven by her curiosity and desire to exhaust a subject. From 2012 - 2016, she focused on vulnerabilities, specifically on death and sexual intimacy. Using photography and collage, her work explored and challenged the public understanding of these vulnerable moments. In 2016, she moved to New York City from Pittsburgh and during the election, her work turned to an almost documentary nature. Her election journal and Homefront both focus on the American political scene of the time. In 2019, she returned to Pittsburgh, PA, where she pivoted to documenting the polluted environmental conditions of her hometown and the economic disarray of the region. She’s been creating art related to this topic since.
In addition to being an artist, she is a curator and community arts organizer involved in administering and facilitating many organizations and programs. She worked at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art from 2020-2024, where she started as the Site Coordinator and ended as the Director of Development and Curator. She was the Executive Director of the Creative Spaces Collective, the nonprofit that ran a state-funded grant for public art, dedicated to bringing public art to Indiana County in Pennsylvania. She was also the founder and director of the Spruce Arts artist residency, which hosted over 50 artists, exhibitions, and events during its tenure. Before moving to Florida, she was also the public art consultant at Stuart Group Consulting, and oversaw many public art projects in the region.
Now, she is the Assistant Professor of Art and Community Engagement and Art Program Coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL.
